College Net Zero Commitment Statement

At Choice Training, we are dedicated to building a sustainable future As part of our commitment to environmental responsibility, we pledge to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, aligning with national and global goals to mitigate climate change.

Our Path to Net Zero

To reach net zero emissions, Choice Training College will prioritize the following strategies:

  1. Energy Efficiency: We will reduce our energy consumption through efficiency upgrades, including LED lighting, TRVs, and sustainable energy management practices.

  2. Renewable Energy: Transitioning to clean, renewable energy sources is central to our strategy. We will progressively source more of our electricity from solar, wind, and other renewable sources to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

  3. Sustainable Campus Operations: We are committed to sustainable procurement, waste reduction, and responsible resource management. By embracing a circular approach, we will minimize waste and encourage recycling, and reuse programs.

  4. Sustainable Transportation: To reduce emissions from travel, we will promote low-carbon commuting options, and explore incentives for carpooling, cycling, and public transportation.

  5. Student and Community Engagement: As a centre of learning, we recognize the power of education to inspire change. We will engage students, and staff in sustainability initiatives, integrating climate action into our curriculum and college life, and preparing our community to contribute to a sustainable future.

  6. Tracking and Transparency: We will monitor, report, and publicly share our progress toward net zero. By setting interim targets and tracking our emissions reductions, we will ensure accountability and adjust our strategies as needed.

Our Commitment to Innovation and Leadership

Choice Training College is dedicated to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility, encouraging innovative solutions, and setting an example for sustainability in higher education. Through collaboration, research, and a commitment to change, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint, protect natural resources, and contribute positively to the global climate effort.

What We can do

  • To reduce our own greenhouse gas emissions and to encourage others to do the same.

  • To minimise material use and waste generated through college operations and encouraging learners to use laptops

  • To encourage students and staff to adopt sustainable modes of transport.

  • To train the workforce of the future by offering students opportunities to gain green skills.

  • To prepare our students, staff and campus for the impacts of climate change.

  • To procure goods and services from a supply chain which is sustainable.

To achieve our aims we will pursue actions in the following areas:

.

  • Energy usage: To seek funding for and deliver projects to reduce energy usage on campus.

  • Awareness: To raise awareness of sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through regular engagement and events.

  • Teaching: To integrate sustainability and knowledge of the SDGs into our teaching and to regularly monitor our contribution toward the SDGs..

  • Adaptation: To identify and prepare for the threats presented to the College by climate change through Business Continuity Planning, risk assessment and climate change adaptation planning.
